Final Blog
I’m baaaaaaack!
So, this is one final blog to thank absolutely EVERYBODY who has supported the Wildcubs throughout their tremendous journey from the very start, to the very end. They could not have done it without the support of everybody. I’d like to thank the sponsors, everyone who donated and everyone who helped along this amazing adventure. I’d just like to pick out a few thanks yous, but if I’ve left you out, don’t think we’ve forgotten about you, everyone is equally appreciated and thanked.
I’d like to firstly thank the members of the Highland Classic Motorcycle Club and the Caledonian Panther Motorcycle Club (Big Jim) for accompanying the boys on the departure from Glen moray Visitor Center. And the boys of the Harley Davidson Charters who the boys met in Dundee for the final leg of the journey who made it just amazing for the boys and a spectacular sight for the spectators. Also thanks to the Police for the Police escort into the Riverside Inn, and anyone else who rode with the boys in their journey.
Also thanks to Colin McGregor for all his help during the run-up and the trip.
Once again, thank you to EVERYONE.
The trip was unbelievable. It was thoroughly enjoyed. The Scenery and the challenges made this an epic trip for the boys.
Sorry if I didn’t mention you, you were all appreciated.
In total we have raised roughly £5,000-6,000, with money still coming in. Tremendous!
LATER TATERS! (Hopefully see you next year)

Final Day
26/06…5:30pm
Hey for the final time. Today was the final day of the Wildcubs trip and what a day it has been. Today the boys left from Perth at roughly 9am before heading to R&D Motorcycles where the guys looked around the bikes. They then headed onwards to the Horseshoe Restaurant where they were treated to a breakfast before joining up with approximately 40 Harley Davidsons. The guys then made their way to the Riverside Inn, where family and friends were gathered in force to welcome the highly missed boys back to normality. The guys rode in at the front with Duncan (Spence) leading, followed by the other boys. The guys were then followed by the Harley riders who had previously donated a whopping £200 for this amazing cause. As soon as the guys arrived we knew it was to be an emotional moment, there was a lot of tears shed from a lot of people especially me and my mum (Duncan’s mum). It was so emotional to see the guys riding in for the last few seconds of their journey. I was personally overcome with pride and emotion for these boys and words can’t describe how proud of them I am. Once the boys arrived the local press were there for photographs. Once the boys were settled Patricia of the Brittle Bone society made a touching speech about the boys, the trip and the cause which was a proper tearjerker. Then Margaret awarded each of the boys with a necklace with St. Christopher on it. Then the boys were photographed holding the cheque before they enjoyed the festivities set-up including bouncy castles, drinks and the company of their many supporters.
In total the boys raised in excess of £5,000, which is an amazing amount of money for the cause.
I would personally like to congratulate the boys for everything that they have accomplished, I am SO proud of you all. I would also like to thank absolutely everyone who was involved in some capacity or another, without each and every one of you this would have not been the great success that it is.
Now, all that’s left to do is look through Duncan’s video footage, photographs and edit the videos taken by Andrew Downie and Duncan together to see the full tour.
Thanks for reading the blogs and hopefully, next year we’ll be doing this once again and hey, who knows, maybe I might even join them
.

Day Seven
25/06…9:30pm
So guys, today is the last major leg of the journey. The boys travelled today from Glencoe to Perth. The weather – for once – was nice and sunny, just what the Dr. ordered as opposed to the pretty wet weather the boys have had thus far. Today the boys travelled 86 miles and had a nice gentle run, tackling a big hill and meeting loads of nice folk along the way, they stopped off at the Greenwelly cafe for breakfast before continuing their gradually narrowing journey. The Wildcubs arrived earlier in Perth and are currently camping out in the Noah’s Ark campsite – saying that they came in Two by two. Ha-ha-ha.
The boys are all excited yet nervous about the final leg of the journey. They are scheduled to be meeting a group of Harley Davidsons at the Horseshoe restaurant just outside of Dundee, this is just an open invitation from the Wildcubs as well, to any bikers or anyone with an interest in motorcycles to join the boys in the last stretch of the journey and to ride in to Riverside Inn with them and celebrate this momentous achievement that these boys will accomplish tomorrow. The boys are looking to arrive at the Riverside Inn in between 12 and 12:30 pm tomorrow afternoon, so PLEASE come alone to support the guys.
Not much to say on today’s blog as the boys seemed to be too excited to really talk. A small note is that Psycho is COVERED in midges bites, 60 on one arm…I just have to say HA-HA-HA. Love you dad.
The bikes are still doing the job and Psycho said they were amazing bikes; they have thoroughly enjoyed their trip. Once again, so proud of these boys.
Hope to see as much of you as possible tomorrow at the finish line, I’ll be jumping around in my Wildcubs t-shirt
. Can’t wait to see the guys ride in tomorrow, good luck with the final 20 miles boys.

Day Six
24/06…10pm
HEY! So just off the phone to the comedy combination of Psycho and Spence – oh dear lord, I shan’t be calling them at the same time if I want sense again, ha-ha. The boys sound like they are having a great time. They have arrived at Glencoe and are currently in the Red Squirrel Campsite, Duncs and Bunny got in trouble for throwing stones – bad! :O
Today the boys went from Armadale to Glencoe, they boarded the ferry at 10.15 to Mallaig and had a good crossing and good fun there. The part which I am INSANELY jealous of is the fact they went to see Harry Potter land, and I love Harry Potter – GUTTED. But psycho took pictures for me to see, so looking forward to seeing them and planning MY own trip across to Harry Potter land
. They also travelled by Fort William and today covered approximately 90 miles. The weather was pretty wet, showery but it’s dried up now so at least the boys will get a dry night tonight hopefully. The only thing they have to worry about is the couple of million midges currently invading their tent. Tomorrow they are hoping to head through Glencoe and hopefully will end up in Crieff, but are generally looking to travel as far as possible to make the final leg on Saturday as easy as possible.
I left the boys bickering, because Duncan wants to sleep, but Psycho is hitting his air pillow and propelling him across the tent. Psycho has also come to the conclusion that Duncan is horrible. Ah, sounds like they are having a great time, SO proud of them all.
Until Tomorrow,
Later Taters.

Day Five
22/06…6:30pm
Hey once again
Just off the phone to Psycho…again, today has been very, very, VERY wet, the boys are totally soaked, drenched. Do they have decided that it’s not the wisest idea to camp out tonight due to the huge amount of rain, so instead they have booked into a ‘weird and wonderful’ hostel, so at least they will be dry and get a decent night’s sleep. The boys have had a very long day and Dad sounded shattered, today they rode from 8:45 to 5:30 with very few breaks, and managed to cover a whopping 152 miles which is great as they are now safely at their destination for tonight which is Armadale. Tomorrow the boys are up early once again to get the ferry from Armadale to Mallaig at 10:15, they are hoping to be in Glencoe tomorrow night, so they are making good time.
Psycho proudly told me that on the windy roads, the C90′s were keeping up with the likes of BMW’s and Triumphs, which was caused great amusement amongst the boys due to the fact that these are HUGE bikes ye know, and the Cubs are just on these little things, so ha-ha-ha, that made me laugh. The journey today was mostly wet, but they still got to see some of the scenery. They tackled some steep hills, some LONG steep hills and also tackled some strong head winds, so they were tackling both those elements and conquered most of the hills on first gear.
So the boys are all safe and well, and the bikes are running tremendously.

Day Four
22/06…9:30pm
Hello again guys. So today the boys travelled from Durness down to Ullapool. Just got off the phone to Psycho and he was saying that the weather was dry – makes a change from the awful weather the boys have been having, and there was only a wee shower or rain later on in the evening, so not too bad. Today they had a wee stop off at Loch Inver which they said was beautiful and arrived at their destination of Ullapool at half three/four pm this afternoon.
They enjoyed the single track roads today, a 25 degree hill and some more steep hills and still love the scenery, so the guys are having a superB time which is absolutely great to hear.
Upon arriving at Ullapool, the boys went in search of food as last night they decided to sit down and eat all their supplies – not a wise move, as Ullapool had no power so they couldn’t get any hot food, serves them right
so the boys hopes of a nice cooked meal were dashed…and they had to settle for Tesco munch.
The guys are looking to travel down roughly 130 miles tomorrow, heading towards Armadale, where they have a ferry booked for 10am on Thursday morning to carry them on the next leg of the journey.
The bikes are still running well, so that is amazing news and the guys are having a super time. Good Luck tomorrow guys, hope the weather is kind to you.

Day Three
21/06…9:30pm
Hey there, so today I got the chance to talk to my wee brother Duncan, so what he said was that today they travelled from Thurso to Durness, arrived at Durness at roughly half five which was when he called. The weather once again wasn’t spectacular, it started off wet but Duncs said that it got drier later on which was good since the boys have just been chilling out and enjoying the campsite that they are at which is at Sango Sands in Durness. Since arriving at the campsite all Duncan has really done is sleep, and eat his Chicken Tikka, which he told me several times…must’ve been good
. Duncan also mentioned that they had a wee look around the Smoo caves which Duncan enjoyed, and Duncan also said that he is really enjoying the scenery and has seen some GREAT views and has been documenting the trip on his wee camera bought by his girlfriend Charlotte so I’m personally really looking forward to seeing the footage once he gets back, especially once it has all been edited together – and of course seeing the departures and arrivals added in which are being filmed by Andrew Downie. And if Duncan says that these views are breathtaking, then i’m sure they are, so I’ll be looking forward to seeing the Wildcubs Journey, once again i’m so proud of these boys. Duncan also told me to say he has only been filming on the straight roads, not round no dangerous curves
, so no need to panic mum.
Psycho mentioned that the Honda C90′s are definately the best touring bikes and they are going just fine, which is great to hear.
Also heard that Bunny was enjoying a bit of nature…Haha.
So tomorrow the boys are bound towards Ullapool so good luck guys and I hope the weather is great for you guys.

Day Two
20/06…8pm
Just off of the phone to Psycho getting the latest on the Wildcubs journey so far. I’d like to start off by thanking Gilly for giving the boys a fantastic night last night, most appreciated.
Tonight the boys arrived in their destination of Thurso where the weather is not so lovely, it’s very cold and very wet – not the greatest ingredients for a bike trip, however the boys are booked in to a local hostel so they are going to be all dry and warm tonight and rested, ready to continue their trip tomorrow where they are looking to head towards Durness.
The bikes are running extremely well and the boys are thoroughly enjoying themselves. It’s a hard trip on these wee bikes but they are sturdy and so far have been very reliable so fingers crossed this continues throughout the trip.
Today the boys travelled up through John O’Groats, which was wet and cold – just miserable weather in general. They weren’t sure if they were parking in the sea it was that wet. The boys are proud to say they made it up the Berriedale Hill today as they had been worried that the hills would be too steep for the wee bikes and they’d have to push but nope, they managed to power up the hill and onwards with their journey.
They rode for 5 hours today and at times their maximum speed was a great…18 miles per hour…so fast…sarcasm here, but the strong headed wind wasn’t the greatest for riding in but the boys managed to make it to their destination anyway.
Once again, so proud of these guys, this is a tremendous cause and good luck for tomorrow boys.

P.S. Happy Fathers Day Psycho
Day One
19/6…12noon
So, today is the day the Wildcubs started their 900 plus mile journey. Everyone was up bright and early and within no time we were all sitting anxiously at the Visitor Center for the take off, hoping that nothing would go wrong – as yesterday Bunny’s chain broke…leaving a wee bit of nerves from Papa Bear aka Psycho. There was quite a strong turn-out of family, friends and some members of the local community to see off the four bikers…well…mopedders. The morning started with a BBQ, while the four Wildcubs mingled with family and friends and got ready for the trip. The local news was there and a hoard of bikers was there to escort the boys off. At half ten the guys revved their 90 cc engines and zoomed…slowly…up the hill at Glen Moray and on their merry way north.
*UPDATE* 19/06…7.36pm
Psycho just called and told me that they have arrived at their destination, sounded like Tain…although, I couldn’t hear because of the wind but I will find out for you guys. They arrived at roughly 5pm and are currently attempting to set-up their tents. The cubs were escorted by the Panther motorcycle club and the Classic motorcycle club. They’d like to send a HUGE thanks to these guys for an excellent day and were treated to lunch by the guys, so thanks so much for your help guys, we appreciate it very much, thanks to Jim, John, Neil and co. for the jobs the great jobs they did in escorting the boys and spoiling them rotten. Duncan (‘Spence’) can’t wait for tomorrow after having such a great day, earlier he was telling me of the amazing views and how great and right this feels to be doing it for such a good cause so close to the biker’s hearts.
Good Luck boys, we’ll all be down cheering you on for the last leg of the journey on Saturday, but until then I will be updating the blog everyday so that you all know how the boys are doing.
